Chiang Mai Heritage Festival: Rooted in tradition and culture
Experience Yi Peng magic at Rock n’ River
Every November, under a glowing full moon, the Chiang Mai Heritage Sky Lantern Festival transforms the riverside grounds of Rock n’ River in Doi Saket into a living celebration of Yi Peng and Northern Thai culture.
Over two magical evenings (Nov 5 & 6), guests arrive by shuttle and step into a world of hands-on lantern-making, flavorful Lanna cuisine, and vibrant hill-tribe performances. As monks lead a twilight blessing, thousands release sky lanterns in a breathtaking moment of shared hope, heritage, and harmony.
How is the Heritage festival different from other events?

Themed food zones
Sample signature dishes like khao soi and som tam in an open-market style setting. Dine under lantern-lit trees as roaming performers and musicians create a lively, festive atmosphere.
