Every November, under a glowing full moon, the Chiang Mai Heritage Sky Lantern Festival transforms the riverside grounds of Rock n’ River in Doi Saket into a living celebration of Yi Peng and Northern Thai culture.
Over two magical evenings (Nov 5 & 6), guests arrive by shuttle and step into a world of hands-on lantern-making, flavorful Lanna cuisine, and vibrant hill-tribe performances. As monks lead a twilight blessing, thousands release sky lanterns in a breathtaking moment of shared hope, heritage, and harmony.
Learn to create traditional khom loi, krathongs, and crafts guided by local artisans. These interactive sessions give you a chance to connect with Lanna heritage while making your own festival keepsake.
See Tai Lue candle rituals, drum displays, dancers in hill-tribe costume, and classical Lanna music.
Sample signature dishes like khao soi and som tam in an open-market style setting. Dine under lantern-lit trees as roaming performers and musicians create a lively, festive atmosphere.
