Hosted at The Garden (Suan Sawan) in Mae Taeng District (45 km from Chiang Mai), the Heaven Sky Lantern Festival revives Lanna heritage in an intimate, forested lakeside setting. Covering around 170 rai of landscaped grounds, this boutique gala invites just a few thousand guests per night to experience authentic rituals, crafts, and a magical lantern launch
Crafted by renowned local chef PaTa Obasan, the festival includes Kad Mua markets, tribal zones, candlelit pavilions, a striking 30m lantern arch, and a mesmerising Lanna Light Parade on water – crowned by a synchronized sky lantern release and full-moon reflection fest
Nestled in Mae Taeng’s woodland, the lakeside midnight release feels private and tranquil – far from Chiang Mai’s bustle.
Explore tribal costume photo zones, traditional handicraft demos, and immersive rituals through community village areas.
The Lanna Light Parade features floating lanterns and a light‑sound show upon the lake – a major highlight before the main lantern release.
The ticket includes a buffet dinner, 2 sky lanterns, 1 krathong, cultural performances, workshops, transport, and insurance all in one package.
Stroll through a 30-meter-long tunnel of soft, glowing lanterns suspended between trees – a luminous forest gateway that feels like stepping into a dream.
Entry, seating, dinner, 2 lanterns, 1 krathong, crafts, performances, water‑show, transport & insurance.
There is only one type of ticket which costs THB 6,700
Children under 8 attend free but they do not get separate lanterns/seats. They can share the lanterns and seats with their parents/guardians.
Since this is a smaller festival, it is unlikely the venue will be disability-friendly.
Facilities include mobile toilets, refreshment stalls, craft zones, lantern arch & on‑site personnel.
The festival takes place on November 5 & 6 at the Suan Sawan (The Garden), Mae Taeng District.
While there is no specified dress code, modest and comfortable attire suitable for an outdoor cultural event is recommended.
